DOMESTIC COCKROACH

Blatella germanica , known as the "French cockroach," is one of the most common household pests. They are typically found in kitchens, as they prefer warm, humid spaces. Because this room provides water, food, and shelter, it's an ideal place for this insect to reside.

French cockroaches live in holes such as cracks in walls and crevices in the floor. They are on average 2 cm long and can live up to 200 days. They are nocturnal and avoid well-lit areas.

They often roam dirty areas like garbage cans, grease traps, drains, and pipes. This is why they're a vector for diseases like food poisoning, gastroenteritis, amoebiasis, giardiasis, parasites, skin allergies, and more.

Contamination from these insects is high and comes through their bodies and also through the digestive tract that transmits bacteria, viruses and parasites to food and objects.

SEWER COCKROACH

Periplaneta Americana is popularly known as the "Sewer Cockroach." It is one of the most common species in Brazil and has distinctive reddish wings, light spots on the thorax, and can fly. An aggressive species, it prefers warm, partially outdoor areas compared to other species. They are typically found in basements, drains, garbage cans, and sewers, and can transmit up to 60 types of parasites.

Sewer Cockroaches can live in large groups in open spaces, as long as there is no danger or constant disturbance, such as natural predators or other hazards. Therefore, it is ideal to keep property premises clean. However, sewer cockroaches generally have a more reclusive behavior, living in larger, enclosed spaces. This is because they are larger insects, measuring 2.5 to 4.0 cm, and cannot hide anywhere to survive.

ANTS

There are over two thousand species of ants in Brazil. Of these, approximately 30 are considered urban pests. In addition to causing damage to the structure of homes and even electrical and electronic equipment, these insects can transmit pathogenic diseases (which cause hospital infections), amoebiasis, and giardiasis, as well as carry protozoa, viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Ant pest control can be performed in homes, apartments, businesses, restaurants, markets, industries, and more. It's quick and efficient to protect your environment. Treatments can include powder products, granulated baits, gels, or even liquid insecticides, which are applied directly to the nest or passage points such as conduits, cracks, cabinets, crevices, etc.

And it's especially in the summer that ants come out in search of food. Don't wait for them to invade your environment. Be prepared.

MOTHS

Lepisma saccharina , commonly known as the "bookworm," typically feeds on carbohydrates such as sugars and starch, paper, book cover glue, hair, dandruff, dirt, cotton, linen, silk, artificial fibers, and even dead insects and the skin of molts. During a famine, they can ruin leather goods and artificial fiber cloth. They can survive for several months without food. Some of their characteristics include their antennae, which are thin and long, they have three thin, tail-like limbs, their legs are adapted for running, and they lack wings.

During reproduction, the male and female race excitedly throughout the entire process, which involves the male depositing a spermatophore. The female then collects the fertilizing capsule. The female can lay 1,000 to 3,500 eggs during her lifetime, laying 2 to 3 eggs per day. This moth is found primarily in homes and is rare in the wild; they can breed in many places, such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements.

FLIES

From the order Diptera , flies have sexual reproduction and most are oviparous, with a short life cycle, lasting around 30 days and are insects with complete metamorphosis (holometabolous) and present the following development phases: egg, larva, pupa and adult.

Urbanization has favored the reproduction of flies, which find food, shelter, and reproduction in garbage, food scraps, and other places. They can feed on feces, phlegm, pus, decaying animal and plant products, as well as sugar and fruit.

Flies are capable of transmitting diseases (Typhoid and Paratyphoid Fever, Giardiasis, Amoebiasis, Salmonellosis, Dysentery, Cholera, Polio, Tuberculosis, among others) serving as hosts for pathogenic agents and should be avoided. As a behavioral characteristic, they are more active during the day than at night, when they rest.

We can identify the presence or passage of flies in a place through dark stains from their feces or light stains resulting from the saliva produced by the insect that it releases on the food to facilitate its ingestion.

MOSQUITOES

Also belonging to the order Diptera , mosquitoes, midges, and black flies are some of the numerous mosquitoes present throughout the country. When they bite people, in addition to the itching and irritation, bleeding, and allergic reactions they cause on the skin, they can also cause serious diseases. Malaria, dengue fever, leishmaniasis, yellow fever, paratyphoid fever, elephantiasis, and hymenolepiasis are the main ones. Swarms of mosquitoes can cause animals to stop eating and seek relief. The scratching mechanism can lead to skin damage.

Hair loss and secondary infections. Flying and stinging can lead to weight loss, decreased milk or egg production, and even death from anemia.

FLEAS

Fleas can enter a home in a variety of ways, even when pets are kept outdoors. They can jump inside from the garden, hitchhike on you, or even be left behind by previous residents. Fleas can remain dormant for incredibly long periods of time, causing health problems such as allergic dermatitis, and transmitting viruses, worms, and bacterial diseases (bubonic plague, tularemia, and salmonellosis). Although bites are rarely felt, irritation caused by salivary secretions can be aggravated in some individuals.

CENTIPEDES

Centipede (06).jpg

Centipedes, also known as "centipedes," are agile nocturnal hunters, their bodies adapted to penetrate cracks, where they often hide during the day. They measure up to 23 cm and feed on insects, lizards, mice, and even baby birds.

Its bite is painful, but its venom is not very toxic to humans. However, if bitten by this animal, medical attention is required, as reactions depend on the number of bites and the amount of venom. Furthermore, the wound may become infected if the animal has been in a sewer.

SPIDERS

Scytodes Thoracica 3.jpg

These are the "leggy" spiders very common in homes throughout Brazil. They are spiders that will never interfere with your life, almost always staying in their webs in hidden corners of the house.

This spider's defense method is curious, to say the least. If provoked, it will frantically swing its web, making it difficult to see. If the threat persists, it will abandon the web and fling itself to the ground in flight.
